We designed this custom aluminum sub-frame so all of the material will fasten directly to it. All of the nuts go inside this channel eliminating having to drill 70 holes through your steel floor. This sub-frame also prevents the wood from coming in contact with the steel floor. When you get moisture under the deck,
air can circulate preventing any rust problems.
You assemble this kit outside of your truck with a
Phillips screw driver and tape measure. COOL!
This trick unit lies on top of your steel floor.
NO modifications to your truck are necessary. All machine work is pre-done for you. The wood is trimmed and shaped to fit each application. A special dado cut at the rear allows for the rear sill angle to fit flush with the surface of the wood. All mounting holes are drilled and the material is sanded on both sides ready for finish. The metal strips are cut to length and the holes are pre-punched. We prefer to use the 304 grade of stainless. 304 stainless has a higher nickel content, making it non magnetic. Therefore it will not rust or deteriorate unlike some other grades of stainless. All attaching hardware is stainless. Our polished parts will require sunglasses when viewing outdoors.
This special rear sill angle finishes off the kit. The angle also attaches to the sub-frame and the bolts are lined up to go between the boards which allow you to slip it into position. We also supply aluminum barrels to keep the screws from pulling down to tight on the angle. Loosely assemble the complete angle unit, slip it into place and tighten the screws. NO holes drilled! However, theft and paint chaffing is a possibility. There are four additional screws provided. I do strongly recommend securing it to your steel floor. Simply remove a skid strip bolt and insert a matching
screw in its place. Ready to rock and roll!
